Learn More about Sick Rods and Mark Laws
Local charter boat captain and custom rod-builder Captain Mark Laws, who has been fishing both Florida coasts since his youth, is the founder and owner of Sick Rods Custom Fishing Rods. He got his start tweaking tackle at the young age of 12, working the deck alongside his father on a 90-foot head boat that sailed from the east coast of Florida all the way to the Bahamas. Later, when he acquired a 100-Ton Master Captains License and began leading charters of his own, he discovered that as rods broke and needed repair, he was treading water on a tight budget. After a friend showed him the basics of wrapping rod-guides and replacing tips, he wanted to learn more.
From these modest beginnings, Captain Mark honed his custom fishing-rod craft into a business that would later be known as Sick Rods. For Laws success in fishing comes down to one thing – confidence. Your fishing rod should feel -- and act -- like an extension of your arm, where you can feel everything taking place just below the waterline. That’s the sensation of fishing with a custom fishing rod -- crafted for optimum performance. It has targeted action for specific needs, superior construction, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Sick Rods promises you not only a custom fishing rod, but a fully functional fine-art piece that will look just as nice hanging above your mantel.
